The Mint has suspended sales of its tenth-ounce gold American Eagle bullion coin to replenish its supplies.
So far in the month of April it has sold 85,000 pieces. So far this year, sales totaled 300,000 pieces.
The Mint notes that demand for the tenth-ounce coin is up 118 percent from last year.
Sales of the other sizes continue. So far this year, the Mint has sold 402,000 one-ounce gold American Eagles, 37,000 half-ounce gold Eagles and 68,000 quarter-ounce Eagles.
Gold Buffalo sales stand at 123,500.
Rationing is in place for sales of the one-ounce silver American Eagle coin. Sales stand at 17,291,000.
