No more 2010 one-ounce Buffalo gold bullion coins will be sold this year, the U.S. Mint notified its authorized purchaser network Sept. 23.
Since they became available in April, the Mint sold 209,000 of the .9999 fine gold bullion coins, an increase of 9,000 from the level of 2009.
These coins like American Eagle bullion coins are not sold directly to collectors by the Mint.
Collectors, however, can still purchase the proof Buffaloes. These went on sale June 3 and so far 33,651 have been sold. Last year the Mint sold 49,388 proofs.
