Mint appoints CCAC members
Robert Hoge and Jeanne Stevens-Sollman have been appointed to the Citizens Coinage Advisory Committee to fill two vacancies, the U.S. Mint has announced.
The 10-member body advises the secretary of the Treasury about coinage matters.
Hoge, who was curator of the American Numismatic Association Money Museum in Colorado Springs, Colo., 1981-2001, was chosen by virtue of his education, training or experience in numismatic curation, the Mint said.
Currently, Hoge is curator of North American Coins and Currency for the American Numismatic Society. He is also a columnist and contributing editor of The Numismatist, the ANA’s monthly journal. He serves as president of the New York Numismatic Club.
Hoge has a Bachelor of Arts degree in anthropology and history from the University of Colorado at Boulder, and a teaching certification in social sciences.
Stevens-Sollman was chosen to represent the general public. The Mint calls her a leader in the field of medallic sculpture and notes that her work is exhibited in U.S. and European museums and is in private collections.
She is past president of the American Medallic Sculpture Association and is the U.S. vice delegate to the Federation Internationale de la Medaille. She was given the ANA’s Award of Excellence in Medallic Sculpture in 2007.
Stevens-Sollman earned a Bachelor of Science degree and a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Rhode Island College and a Master of Fine Arts degree from Pennsylvania State University.
