Miniature Sweet Hearts

As a collector I find that one of the most often used words in my vocabulary is the word “no”. While I don’t think that I am a negative type person I use the word followed with a “thanks anyway” every time I am offered items that I can not use or do not want and also when some one wants to buy an item for less than I am willing to accept. Miniature medals though popular with many collectors are one of my “No” items unless they are part of a group or package deal. The only time I actually went looking for mini’s was when I put together groups for my father and father-in-law to wear on patriotic holidays. The only exception to this rule of mine came to pass when I went to a military show only to find out that on the first day of that show there was a 25.00 early bird admission fee. My complaint that this little fact was not advertised only made the show promoter’s ticket taking wife very irate and I was escorted (rescued?) by a sympathetic sheriff’s deputy who told me of a local flea market not far away that I should check out. It is often said that every thing happens for a reason. At that flea market I discovered a miniature Wisconsin National Guard Distinctive Insignia (or unit crest) chained to a 32nd Division patch like pin. This opened a whole new collecting area for me and I am for ever thankful to that unknown deputy who pointed me in that direction so long ago. Illustrated here are a few examples of these little mini sweet heart pins.
