More than 25 people attended the educational program, “Lincoln’s Legacy and Introduction to Coin Collecting,” May 2 at the Madison Public Library in Madison, Ala.
More than 25 people attended the educational program, “Lincoln’s Legacy and Introduction to Coin Collecting,” May 2 at the Madison Public Library in Madison, Ala.
The public program for National Coin Week was sponsored by the Madison County Coin Club and Madison Public Library. Donations were provided by members of the MCCC and Whitman Publishing Company.
The program had a number of public displays on coins, paper money and exonumia. A presentation was given by the author.
After the presentation, the Young Numismatists received a goody bag of items, including A Guide Book of United States Coins by R.S. Yeoman and a 2009 Lincoln cent folder.
A door prize drawing for young people was held with a number of proof sets as prizes.
YNs then had the opportunity to work on a project of filling Lincoln cent folders. They received new 2009 Lincoln cents, then got to search through bags of cents to add to their folders.
Boy Scouts in attendance completed the requirements to earn Coin Collecting Merit Badges.
The two-hour program was well received by the attending public.
