March coin production up again

So far, coin production in 2006 is far outpacing that of 2005.

So far, coin production in 2006 is far outpacing that of 2005.

In all 4,381,340,000 coins have been produced through March of this year, compared to 2.769 billion in 2005.

The biggest differences were seen in cents and dimes. Through April 2006, a total of 2,250,800,000 cents have been produced, compared to 1,108,400,000 in 2005. During the same period in 2006, a total of 797 million dimes have been made. In 2005 the figure was 467.5 million dimes.

No change was reported for either the half dollar or dollar categories from February to March.

Cent-P: 367.2 million
Cent-D: 443.2 million
Nickel-P: 81.120 million
Nickel-D: 82.56 million
Dime-P: 158 million
Dime-D: 156 million
Quarter-P: 119.6 million
Quarter-D: 166.8 million
