With two weekend snow storms in a row and a third one likely, my thoughts today turn to the Florida United Numismatists convention.

This year’s event is at Fort Lauderdale, a place I have never been.

My schedule has me heading down Jan. 4 and returning to the snowy regions Jan. 7.

I hope to see you there.

It will be a welcome break from Wisconsin’s winter.

I look forward to experiencing the new location.

What I am sure I will encounter is more warmth and sunshine than will be the case here in Iola, Wis.

Warmth of a different sort will be found on the bourse floor.

There I expect to see many familiar faces. I will greet old friends and acquaintances with gusto.

Taking a walk down the aisles will be similar to walking down familiar streets in Iola.

I will see people I have known for almost 40 years present.

The interesting thing is the numbers are similar.

Iola has a population of 1,300. I expect there will be at least that many dealers on the bourse, probably more.

Many other old friends are in the FUN organization itself.

They are a first-class group.

Their personal warmth and camaraderie keeps me fired up and always desiring to go back for the next show.

But I am not special. This is how the FUN group treats everyone.

Don’t take my word for it. Go to the FUN show.

If not this one, Summer FUN in July, or plan ahead to get out of winter’s grip next year.

Next year’s January FUN show will be in Tampa.

But even as it moves around Florida, once you start attending, you will find as I have that you will want to return again and again.

It is like going home, home to FUN.

Here is a link to the show page on FUN’s website.

Take a look.
