In June 1995 Jim Majoros took over as the president of New Jersey’s Ocean County Coin Club, and 14 years later he is stepping down to work on the sidelines for the club.
“These years have been a very momentous part of my life and I enjoyed every meeting and all the events that we had,” Majoros said. “I definitely don’t plan to retire from the club but want to assist the new president and officers in any way I can to include the club’s YN program, banquet, shows, meetings, etc.
“I gave the club notice two years ago and was confident that within that period, the club would ready itself for the change,” he said.
Dennis Berube, club vice president since 2001, has stepped up to preside as president.
“I couldn’t have been more pleased,” said Majoros of Berube, who was named Garden State Numismatic Association’s 2009 Numismatist of the Year.
Kari Brower will now fill the roll of vice president.
Majoros said it is work his for the American Numismatic Association and GSNA, combined with business and family obligations, that prompted him to step down.
“My sincere appreciation goes to our club members who were the ones that made the club all these years and without the dedicated volunteers, my presidency would certainly not [have] been as productive.”
OCCC will hold its 39th Anniversary Show and Exhibit Sept. 12 at Laurelton Fire House in Brick, N.J. Berube, who also serves as bourse director, says the club still has some tables available. Interested dealers can reach him at (732) 785-0449 after 6 p.m.
