The Numismatic News office is getting ready to move.

The countdown has begun.

We pack up and shut down for the final time here in Iola, Wis., on April 13.

You look around this morning and you see empty shelves.

There are containers in the aisles at our Iola headquarters.

Between now and the 13th, these containers will be filled and labeled with all of the materials that need to be transported to our new site.

It is located at 5225 Joerns Drive, Stevens Point, WI 54481.

My email and phone number will not change.

The new office is about a half hour drive away from where I am sitting this morning.

If everything goes according to plan, all of the things we pack will be moved over the weekend for us.

When we walk into our new digs in Stevens Point on Monday, April 16, these containers, as well as our phones and computers, will be at our new desks.

We will have to unpack, of course, but that is much easier than hauling boxes ourselves.

There were a couple of minor delays in the moving plans.

These postponed our last day from March 23 to April 6 to April 13.

While there is no deeper meaning in this other than standard delays in getting things set up and hooked up, it does create a certain coincidence that I find interesting.

For my entire career, I have written that the first issue of Numismatic News is dated Oct. 13, 1952. It was considered by Chet Krause as the founding date of the company.

I know April 13 is not Oct. 13, but I do find it interesting that the beginning and ending dates here in Iola are both the 13th day of the month.

Does this affect my life in any way?

No.

Will anyone else besides me care in the long run?

Probably not.

But there is a certain symmetry to beginning and ending on the same date of a month 65-1/2 years apart.

This will make it easy for me to remember.

I hope it will be a case of "Lucky 13."

Then, on the day after our first day in our new office, I will mark 40 years at Numismatic News.

For me, the third week of April will always be significant.

With coincidences, you never know where they will end.

Perhaps I should pencil in a reminder for April 18 to be on the lookout for yet another lifetime milestone.
