Members of the Liberty Seated Collectors Club have commissioned Daniel Carr of Moonlight Mint to strike a special medal to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the founding of the club in 2013.

The LSCC was founded in 1973 to encourage, promote and dispense numismatic knowledge on Liberty Seated coinage. Co-founder Kam Ahwash was the club’s first president and editor of the club’s periodical, The Gobrecht Journal. Current club President, co-founder, and Gobrecht Journal Editor, John McCloskey, has served for the past 38 years.

The only book on this specialized series of exposition, commemorative and monetary medals approximating dollar size.

The 1.53-inch diameter, 1-ounce anniversary medal mimics the obverse and reverse design of the Gobrecht dollar. It will be struck in silver and gold versions.

The silver medal has a plain edge with medal turn and is available to non-LSCC members for $80 each including postage in either proof or satin finishes. The club is accepting orders through Nov. 30, 2012.
