Chester Krause, founder of Numismatic News and Krause Publications, was presented a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Central States Numismatic Society.
The presentation was made on Aug. 16 during the American Numismatic Association’s World’s Fair of Money in Rosemont, Ill.
Krause was presented with handmade box, crafted by CSNS Gov. David G. Heinrich from four hardwoods native to Wisconsin – maple, oak, walnut and cherry.
It carried the inscription on the lid, “Presented to / Chet Krause / In recognition of your contributions to numismatics / and many years of dedication to CSNS / April 2013.”
The lid of the box was made to be either shown sitting on the box, hung from a wall, or stood for display.
Making the presentation were CSNS President James S. Moores and Heinrich.
Krause is only the second recipient of the award. Eric P. Newman was the first.
