A $100 1902 Red Seal from Denver, Colo., part of the Frederick Mayer collection of New Hampshire Colonials and Colorado National Bank Notes, is among highlights in Lyn Knight Currency Auctions? June 26-28 sale.
The auction will be held in conjunction with the Memphis Coin Club?s International Paper Money Show.
The $100 Red Seal is joined by about 450 other Colorado Nationals, among them an uncut sheet, 50-50-50-100, from the First National Bank of Pueblo, Colo. Knight said several unique towns are also included.
The New Hampshire offerings include many rare Colonial Currency lots once part of the John J. Ford Jr. collection.
After the Mayer collection offering comes the Middleton collection of Connecticut National Bank Notes. Knight said he hand picked about 100 notes out of a collector?s holdings to offer at Memphis. Among these is an uncut sheet of 1902 Red Seals from the First National Bank of Greenwich, Conn.
The rest of the National Bank Note section offers ?a real interesting variety of top-quality Nationals, a few from a lot of different states and territories,? Knight commented.
A serial No. 1 Lazy Deuce from Chicago, Ill., is among highlights. A collection of about 30 Memphis, Tenn., Nationals will also cross the block.
The National Bank Notes are scheduled to be sold in a session on Saturday, June 28.
Large-size and small-size type notes, Fractional Currency, error notes and other items come up for bids Friday, June 27.
?There?s basically something for everyone in large-size type,? Knight said. Several uncut sheets include a Series 1899 $2 Silver Certificate sheet.
Small-size type notes are highlighted by a star replacement Series 1928E $1 Silver Certificate graded AU-58 EPQ by Paper Money Guaranty, estimated by Knight to bring $50,000-$75,000.
Confederate Currency and obsolete notes are also in the Friday session.
The Confederate section includes many major and minor varieties ? all four Montgomery denominations, an Indian Princess and a Liberty, Shield and Eagle among them.
Obsoletes form ?a limited but select group,? Knight commented. Featured is a Clark, Gruber & Co. $5 note from Denver, Colorado Territory. Also offered is an unsigned uncut sheet of Kirtland, Ohio, notes.
World bank notes will be offered in a session Thursday, June 26.
The auction will be held at the Memphis Marriott Downtown, 250 N. Main St., Memphis, Tenn.
