A Numismatic Ambassador Award was given to Joann Johnbrier Jan. 6 at the annual awards dinner of the National Silver Dollar Roundtable at Ruth?s Chris Steakhouse in Orlando, Fla.

The dinner was held in conjunction with the Florida United Numismatists convention.

Making the presentation was Numismatic News editor David C. Harper. He noted the appropriateness of giving the award to Joann, because when paired with her husband Al?s award in 1996, it made them a matched set.

But joking aside, Harper also noted that it was important to recognize individuals who had stuck with the organization through the silver dollar boom, the lean times and now the return of good times. Joann has been treasurer of NSDR through it all.

She is a member of the American Numismatic Association, FUN and her home club, the Bowie, Md., Coin Club.

The Numismatic Ambassador Award was created in 1974 by Numismatic News to honor hobby volunteers who help make organized numismatics work.
