Debut of the Thomas Jefferson Presidential dollar is set for Aug. 15 at the Jefferson Memorial in Washington, D.C.

In the hour preceding the introductory news conference at 11 a.m. by Mint Director Ed Moy, historical re-enactors playing Jefferson will quiz the public about their knowledge of the third President. Correct answers will earn a free Jefferson dollar.

Moy will also give out free dollars to the children present.

The dollar coin will be placed into the national banking system the next day, Aug. 16.

Following the news conference at 11:30 a.m., the public will be given the opportunity to exchange their folding money for the new coins. This exchange will be conducted for two hours.

The Jefferson dollar is the third of four that will be introduced in 2007. The next one will be James Madison.
