Numismatics has won a sales tax victory in the state of Iowa. Gov. Tom Vilsack signed legislation into law on June 1 that exempts rare coins, paper money and precious metals from the state sales tax.

The law takes effect July. 1.

?The first sales tax-free coin show will be July 15, 2006, at Adventureland Inn in Altoona, Iowa,? declared Iowa Numismatic Association President Chris Seuntjens.

Seuntjens is pleased with the new law. He says he has been working on it since April 1998. He can be reached at Christopher?s Rare Coins in Des Moines at (515) 251-4031.
