The Illinois Numismatic Association has wrapped up its 50th Anniversary coin show and already has plans for its 2010 show under way.

Because bourse space has sold out months in advance of the past two years’ shows, the group encourages interested dealers to put down a deposit by Feb. 15.

For details of next year’s show, contact Bourse Chairman Jim Paicz by e-mail at paiczj@aol.com or by phone at (708) 670-3469. Information can also be obtained on ILNA’s Web site, www.ilnaclub.org.

The 50th Anniversary show was held Sept. 17-19 in Tinley Park, Ill. The sold-out bourse held 220 dealer tables. The turnout had far exceeded the expectations of Chairman Frank Zapushek and ILNA board members, the club reported. They were pleased with the show’s success.

This year was the second time the show was held at its new location at the Holiday Inn Convention Center. Dealers seemed to be pleased with the change overall, according to the association.

“This year’s show was much more active than 2008,” said Paicz. “An increase in Early Bird badge sales, a record public attendance of 1,687, which in part was due to increased advertising in local newspapers and numismatic publications, all contributed to a well planned and executed show by Zapushek.”

The show’s opening day was quite active, the association reported. It said the majority of dealers commented that they were busy selling as well as buying to fill customer want lists.

Gold was a big seller. A few dealers said that most of their collector gold was sold within the first few hours of the show.

American Numismatic Association President Cliff Mishler was in attendance on the bourse floor to talk to dealers and collectors. He was also the guest speaker at the Dealer Dinner.

ILNA reported good attendance for the Sept. 19 Youth Auction. It is grateful to the dealers who donated items and the volunteers who helped facilitate the event.
