Awards were announced at the International Bank Note Society meeting June 9 in Memphis.
John Grost was given the Amon Carter Jr. Award for the best exhibit of world notes. His display was “A Type Set of Philippine Notes Printed by the Bureau of Engraving and Printing.”
The Fred Philipson Literary Award was given to Jonathan Callaway and Dave Murphy for, “The Leith Banking Company, One of Scotland’s Forgotten Banks.”
The second place literary award was won by John E. Sandrock for his article, “The World War II Philippine Guerrilla Notes of Mindanao Island.”
Third place was snared by Owen W. Linzmayer for “Eritrean Banknotes – the Birth of the Nakfa.”
Honorable mentions went to Mark Brook, Miguel Chirinos, Gene Hessler, Dmitriy Litvak and Alexander Kuznetsov, David Lok, Dave Mills, Stefano Poddi and Peter Symes.
The Ward D. Smith Memorial Award was given to Neil Kaplan for, “The Finance and Currency of Manchuria, 1932-1950.
