Like all military medal collectors I always pick up books about the medals and their background history. Over the years I must have collected about half a ton of books including unit histories, town and local war histories and organizational war histories. The most interesting organizational is a book titled: American Homeopathy in the World War which is 447 pages with about half devoted to listing names of doctors and others who served the war effort here and abroad. Homeopathy is one of those hotly debated medical fields labeled as quackery by some and defended vigorously by others claiming life saving results that they could not get from more conventional medicine. In any event Homeopathy certainly did it’s share to support the American War effort during WWI.
