Will this be the summer of sellouts?

The Mint will release the 2015-W High Relief gold coin July 30.

The first ever $100 one-ounce High Relief gold piece will go on sale July 30 on the U.S. Mint website beginning at noon Eastern Daylight Time.

Price was not revealed at press time, but other one-ounce coins were priced at $1,510 when this story was written.

Maximum mintage will be 50,000 coins.

There will be no household order limit imposed on buyers.

Obverse of the .9999 fine coin shows the upper three-quarters of a standing Liberty holding a torch and the American flag.

It is designed by the Mint’s Artistic Infusion Program artist Justin Kunz.

The reverse shows an eagle flying to the viewers left gripping an olive branch in its talons. Paul Balan, another AIP artist, created it.

A black velvet presentation case will house each encapsulated coin and it will come with a certificate of authenticity.
