Heritage Auction Galleries will offer more than 2,400 lots in its Summer ?08 FUN auction June 26-27.

Among featured lots is an 1844 proof Seated Liberty dollar graded Proof-65 by Numismatic Guaranty Corp. This piece was once part of the John J. Pittman collection as well as the Charlie Kaufman collection of proof rarities. Sale catalogers said this example ranks as second finest of the 10 examples they have been able to verify.

A proof 1836 reeded edge half dollar, NGC Proof-64, will also be offered. These half dollars were struck with a steam press, a technology new to the U.S. Mint at the time. Catalogers estimated that probably fewer than 20 pieces are known today.

Gold coins fill a significant portion of the sale, with rarities from gold dollars to double eagles.

An 1839-O quarter eagle from the first year of coin production at New Orleans is graded NGC MS-64. A 1911-D gold $2.50 is graded MS-64 by Professional Coin Grading Service, and a second 1911-D in NGC MS-65 with Certified Acceptance Corp. sticker is also offered.

An 1880 Flowing Hair $4 ?Stella,? Judd 1657, is offered in PCGS Proof-64.
Gold $5s include an 1832 with 13 stars in PCGS MS-63 and an 1860 proof in NGC Proof-66 Cameo. Among $10s are an 1801 in PCGS MS-64 and an 1803 with large stars reverse in NGC MS-62 billed as the only eagle variety never owned by Harry Bass.

Four 1907 High Relief Saint-Gaudens $20s are found in the double eagle section, as well as a 1914-S in NGC MS-67 and a 1931-D in PCGS MS-64.

Commemoratives include classic issues in gold and silver as well as a few modern issues such as two 1997-W Jackie Robinson gold $5s and some 2000-W bimetallic Library of Congress $10s.

Several interesting Territorial gold pieces close out the auction.

The auction is being held in West Palm Beach, Fla., in conjunction with the Florida United Numismatists? Summer FUN show.
