A coin and currency public, online and mail-bid auction will be conducted June 19 by Sonny Henry’s Auction Service.
The sale features lots that are part of the Illinois Collection, which was assembled over 50 years and Henry has been auctioning off over a period of 10 years.
Henry says he has a nice mix of rare and high quality coins.
“Lots of fresh material, and more to come,” Henry says.
Many of the coins feature great eye appeal, Henry points out.
He ticked off a list of highlights. They include an 1878 $3 Gold PCGS Secure Plus MS- 66+. According to Coin Facts Pop Report this is the only one that is Graded MS- 66+. There are 65 in MS-66, five in MS-67 and one in MS-67+. Henry calls the coin a “beautiful gem with amazing eye appeal, dripping with luster sure to please the gold collector.”
Other important highlights include an 1837 Bust quarter, MS-63; 1807 Draped Bust half dollar, ANACS EF-45 that looks AU; 1873-CC $20 double eagle, NGC AU-55; 1886-S Morgan dollar, NGC MS-65; 1935 Spanish Trail commemorative half dollar, NGC MS-66; 1793 large cent, ANACS VG-8 details “S-10 corroded;” 1796 Bust quarter, ANACS AG-3 details “cleaned,” and a 1922 Grant “no star” in PCGS MS-64.
The auction will be conducted at the Midwest Center for Christian Living in Lasalle, Ill.
