Goldberg’s auction nets $7.7 mil

Three coins garner bids of more than $100,000.

With three coins garnering bids of more than $100,000, Ira and Larry Goldberg’s Pre-Long Beach Auction grossed over $7.7 million.

The sale was held Sept. 19-21 in Beverly Hills, Calif. Over 3,900 lots were offered, including an 1899 complete proof set, including gold, of 10 coins that fetched $189,750.

A 1797 Over 5 large eagle, graded AU-58 by Numismatic Guaranty Corp., realized $126,500, while an 1895 Morgan dollar, NGC graded AU-58, fetched $115,000.

Three collections were featured in the sale: the Olstyn Family Collection; the Kazpar Dollar Collection; and the Turchak Collection of Klippe Coinage.
