A higher price has been set for the proof Buffalo one-ounce gold coin that will go on sale to collectors by the U.S. Mint on May 10.

The price of $825.95 is up from the $800 figure for the proof 2006.
Potential mintage figures were not available by press time. Maximum for the 2006 was set at 300,000, but sales did not reach that figure, standing at 249,000 at press time.

The price of gold bullion on the open market has been moving higher in recent weeks, so collectors may buy these as much as a play on the price of bullion as to their appeal as a collectible. The coin is priced approximately $150 higher than metallic value.
