Authorized Purchasers are putting their money in gold.

The United States Mint reports selling 10,000 one-ounce, 2,000 half-ounce, 4,000 quarter-ounce and 35,000 tenth-ounce gold Eagles along with 2,500 gold Buffalo bullion coins between Sept. 23 and Sept. 30.

During the same time period, Authorized Purchasers were able to order one million silver Eagles, bringing the sales total for September up to 3,804,500 coins.

Purchasers also bought all 45,000 Bombay Hook 5-ounce silver bullion coins as soon as they were available extending a sellout streak for the 5-ouncers. The 2014 Great Sand Dunes 5-ounce silver collector’s coin is listed as currently unavailable 24,058 coins purchased.

Sales drifted backwards for the Kennedy Coin and Chronicles set as returns led to a net loss of 259 units from Sept. 20 to Sept. 27. The current sales total stands at 48,203 sets.
