My next trip out of the office will be Sept. 25 when I head out to Vallejo, Calif., with Clifford Mishler to participate in the second annual Northern California Numismatic Seminar sponsored by the Northern California Numismatic Association.
There will be a number of presentations, but Clifford and I are teaming up to put 50 years of Numismatic News and Krause Publication memories on display front and center.
I have given talks before.
Clifford has given talks before.
But we have never done one together.
Since he hired me after our fateful first meeting March 1, 1978, we obviously have worked together doing other things.
At that job interview, I might have been an enthusiastic collector, but I also had to demonstrate a professional competence to Clifford.
Apparently I did. I was hired and I am still here.
Either that means I have no ambition in a country where we supposedly have seven jobs in our careers, or I found the ideal employer on my first attempt and I took on a variety of roles within the organization.
The presentation should be fun.
I hope to see a nice group of people in attendance.
The seminar will be held at the Vallejo Naval and Historical Museum, 734 Marin Street, Vallejo, Calif.
Registration is 9 a.m., Presentations run 10 a.m. to noon and 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
There is free admission and parking.
There will also be a door prize drawing for attendees.
The organizer is Michael S. Turrini.
He can be reached for more information by email at EmperorI@juno.com.
He can also be reached by telephone at (707) 246-6327.
Will I see you there? I hope so.
