Four speak at seminar

An educational seminar was held by the Central States Numismatic Society June 16 in Indianapolis, Ind.

An educational seminar was held by the Central States Numismatic Society June 16 in Indianapolis, Ind.

Featured speakers were Anthony Swiatek, noted author and dealer from New York; Cliff Mishler, former CEO of Krause Publications; Robert Julian, prolific numismatic researcher and author; and Wendell Wolka, well-known paper money authority and author.

Twenty-nine Midwest collectors attended the seminar.

Swiatek gave a presentation titled, ?How to Avoid Being Ripped Off as a Coin Collector.? Mishler?s topic was, ?The History of the Standard Catalog of World Coins,? and Julian spoke on ?Researching in the National Archives and the Story of the 1933 St.-Gaudens $20 gold piece.? Wolka?s presentation was titled, ?Indiana Obsolete Bank Notes.?

The seminar was the second in a planned series of educational programs sponsored by the Central States Numismatic Society. Future seminars are in the planning stages.
