Former U.S. Mint Director Henrietta Holsman Fore has been named as one of the most powerful women in Washington D.C. by U.S. Banker magazine.

A magazine for banking executives, U.S. Banker quotes an unidentified observer as saying that while at the Mint, Fore “brought her great skills as a manager and attacked the agency as if it were a business.”

Fore recently was named under secretary for management at the State Department.

Among others on the U.S. Banker list are Sen. Dianne Feinstein; Rep. Nancy Pelosi; Julie Williams, the chief counsel of the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency; and Susan Schmidt Bies, a member of the board of governors of the Federal Reserve since 2001.
