Headlining Stack?s Gala Public Auction May 23-25 is the John J. Ford Collection, Part XIV, featuring a variety of medals.
But coins aren?t taking a backseat. U.S. half dollars from the Northern Bay Collection, Part III, are expected to be hot sellers, as is an 1854-S quarter eagle called ?extremely rare? by the cataloger, who graded it Fine.
It?s included in the May Sale of U.S. Coins and paper money that takes place May 23-24. The May 23 session begins at 9 p.m., followed the next night by the second session, which starts at 6:30 p.m.
From the Northern Bay Collection comes an 1836 50 over 00 cents half dollar with a reeded edge, graded Choice Brilliant Proof by the cataloger.
Another highlight is an 1801 half dollar graded Choice Brilliant Uncirculated by the cataloger. The Northern Bay Collection will be sold May 25 starting at 6 p.m.
Also in the sale is the May 25 auction of the Phoenix Collection of U.S. commemorative coins, which includes half dollars from York County, Maine. The 1936 specimens are both graded Superb Gem Brilliant Uncirculated by the cataloger.
Part 2 of Ford?s Betts medals collection is the centerpiece of the Ford sale, which takes place May 23, starting at 6:30 p.m.
