A man convicted of killing a Utah coin shop dealer during a 2003 store robbery has been sentenced to five years to life in prison.
Daniel Robert Campbell, 52, was sentenced Sept. 21 in 5th District Court, according to an article in the Salt Lake City Tribune. In July, he pleaded guilty to first-degree felony murder in a plea agreement.
Jordan Allgood, a married father of three, was fatally shot Nov. 25, 2003, in his store in St. George.
Judge G. Rand Beacham noted that while Campbell has contended the shooting was an accident, Campbell failed to call for help for Allgood or come forward afterward.
Beacham also said that he would not recommend that Campbell be considered for parole because of the felon’s 33-year criminal history.
