Collectors had purchased 3,761 of them, not many more than the 3,333 uncirculated Jane Pierce or 3,489 uncirculated Abigail Fillmore coins, but significantly fewer than the 5,348 uncirculated James Buchanan coins. (See Mint Statistics for more numbers.)

Proof and uncirculated Abigail Fillmore, uncirculated Jane Pierce and uncirculated James Buchanan pieces were no long available on the Mint’s website. The proof Pierce and Buchanan pieces had gone off sale even sooner.

Containing a half troy ounce of .9999 fine gold, the First Spouse coins are issued as companion pieces to the Presidential dollars. The legal-tender value assigned by Congress is $10.
