First Spouse gold coin buyers had a limited selection in early June as just the proof and uncirculated Eliza Johnson and the proof Mary Todd Lincoln were available for sale to collectors.
The two available proofs were priced at $929 each. The uncirculated was priced at $916. These are subject to change as gold prices fluctuate on the world markets.
The uncirculated Mary Todd Lincoln First Spouse gold coin went off sale. Collectors had purchased 3,761 of them, not many more than the 3,333 uncirculated Jane Pierce or 3,489 uncirculated Abigail Fillmore coins, but significantly fewer than the 5,348 uncirculated James Buchanan coins. (See Mint Statistics for more numbers.)
Proof and uncirculated Abigail Fillmore, uncirculated Jane Pierce and uncirculated James Buchanan pieces were no long available on the Mint’s website. The proof Pierce and Buchanan pieces had gone off sale even sooner.
Containing a half troy ounce of .9999 fine gold, the First Spouse coins are issued as companion pieces to the Presidential dollars. The legal-tender value assigned by Congress is $10.
