Carl Feldman is the 20th recipient of the 2013 Nettleship Award presented by the New Jersey Numismatic Society.
Feldman joined the New Jersey Numismatic Society in 1980. His collecting specialties include early die varieties of the silver coins of the first Philadelphia mint, counter-stamped and engraved coins, Bust and Liberty Seated silver dollars and coins of the Carson City Mint.
He faithfully served the NJNS as president from 2004 to 2005 and as vice president on several occasions. Feldman is also a member of the Liberty Seated Collectors Club Officer Transition Committee.
The award medal’s obverse portrays the likeness of a New Jersey “Colonial Copper” and the reverse is shrouded by a laurel wreath, inside which is engraved: “2013 Nettleship Award to Carl Feldman.”
Charles F. Nettleship was the founding father of the New Jersey Numismatic Society in October 1933. In 1982, he donated $50 to the Society, which decided to establish a service award in his name.
Nominations are made by past awardees annually in October. If a nominee is selected to receive the Award, the Nettleship Medal is normally presented at the Society’s December meeting. The Nettleship Award was last bestowed in 2012.
