A Facebook page for professional numismatists called “Coin Dealers Helping Coin Dealers” has been created by Robert Oberth of Oberth Rare Coins and founder of Gold & Coin Exchange, and John Richards.
It began Jan. 28. In the first six weeks of existence, it gained over 330 members.
Oberth said before this page was started there was no clear way for coin dealers and industry professionals to share ideas on the coin business.
Dealers can now post want lists on the site as well as sell individual coins or large lots with no intermediary. Any member of the group can go live to report on the coin industry and even hold live auctions, Oberth said.
Kathy McFadden of the Industry Council for Tangible Assets is an industry watchdog and plans to use the site to get news out fast regarding counterfeit coins and other news.
Anybody can join the group by searching Facebook for “Coin Dealers Helping Coin Dealers,” but they must be able to show they are a qualified coin or currency dealer, or an industry professional.
For further information, please contact Robert E. Oberth at Oberth Rare Coins, 1185 Cobb Pkwy NW. Marietta, GA 30062, or call 770-419-0292; 404-556-2495 (cell) or by email Robert@GoldAndCoinExchange.com. You can also send a message to “Coin Dealers Helping Coin Dealers” on Facebook.
