An elongated coin issued by the Manhattan, Kan., Coin Club to mark both the state of Kansas’ sesquicentennial and the club’s 70-year anniversary has an error, according to a report from club member Guy Coffee.

“It wasn’t until the Saturday after the elongated penny was distributed that I discovered that upon closer inspection it indeed contains an error,” said Coffee. “Under ‘1941-2011’ it should read ‘70 Years’ not ‘60.’”

By press time it was decided that the club will continue to distribute the EC. It was offered for sale for $2 each.

For more information, contact Coffee by writing 3500 River Bend Rd., Manhattan, KS 66502, by calling (785) 539-1628 in the evening or by sending an e-mail to guycoffee@hotmail.com.
