A special Industry Council for Tangible Assets seminar on government cash reporting requirements and anti-money laundering efforts will be held for dealers Jan. 6 at 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in Room 329 of the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla., the day before the Florida United Numismatists convention officially opens.
As one of the largest conventions as well as the first major show of the New Year, FUN will attract large numbers of hobbyists to participate in the many events taking place during its run.
A presentation by American Numismatic Association President Clifford Mishler, will kick off three days’ of educational programming Jan. 7 at 11:30 a.m. His topic is entitled “ANA Progress Report.”
Other educational topics include Chinese counterfeits, detecting coins with altered surfaces and collecting coins from Lincoln cents to gold.
The official FUN auction will be conducted Jan. 6-10 by Heritage Numismatic Galleries.
Young Numismatists will have a program of their own on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. and Boy and Girl Scouts programs are on the schedule for later in the day.
Among the groups that will be meeting in conjunction with the show, the Original Hobo Nickel Society has scheduled a 10 a.m. Saturday meeting that includes an auction.
The annual FUN membership meeting is slated for 9 a.m. Sunday morning.
