Early proof set sales hit 240,000

The 2010 United States Mint Silver Proof Set, which contains all 14 circulating coins in proof, went on sale Aug. 26 with opening figures of 241,656 units sold as of Aug. 29, according to the U.S. Mint.
Included in this set are the five quarters from the first year of the America the Beautiful Quarters Program, which honored.
the Hot Springs National Park in Arkansas, Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming, Yosemite National Park in California, Grand Canyon National Park in Arizona and Mount Hood National Forest in Oregon.

Also featured are the four Presidential $1 coins marking Millard Fillmore, Franklin Pierce, James Buchanan and Abraham Lincoln.
The Native American $1, Kennedy half dollar, Roosevelt dime, Jefferson nickel and the Lincoln cent featuring the “Preservation of the Union” reverse design round out the set.
Displayed in three protective lenses, each coin in the 2010 set bears the “S” mintmark of the San Francisco Mint. The half dollar, quarters and dime are struck in 90 percent silver.
