A modern 1855 Kellogg & Co. $50 commemorative gold restrike from the S.S. Central America is one of the highlights of Early American History Auctions, Inc.?s Feb. 11 mail-bid auction.

Estimated to be worth $3,000 to $4,000, the piece, graded gem proof by Professional Coin Grading Service, is just one of a number of U.S. coins in the sale, which also features Colonial coins, Continental and Colonial currency, Indian Peace medals, ancient coins, and Confederate, Obsolete and U.S. paper currency.

Among Colonial coins, a 1788 Connecticut Miller 16.3-N, graded XF-40 by PCGS, is estimated to be worth $800 to $1,000.

With regard to currency, one of the top lots is a 1781 ?Vermont Calls for Justice? five shillings note estimated at $20,000 to $25,000. The note is graded choice extremely fine by the cataloger.

Another currency highlight is a June 18, 1776, $7 ?Small Sword in Hand? issue thought to be worth $10,000 to $20,000.

The cataloger graded it as gem crisp uncirculated.
