.American gold and silver buyers dramatically slowed their purchases in February.
Mint sales of the usually popular gold and silver American Eagle coins are plunging.
Silver American Eagles are in worse shape.
The combined sales total in the first two months of the year has plummeted 41 percent.
In 2016 the sales number was 10,736,500 one-ounce coins while the January-February number is presently 6,342,500.
Sales of the four-sizes of gold American Eagle coins have declined by 30 percent.
February results are the primary culprit for the drop.
In January, silver Eagle sales were down by just 14 percent on the year while gold Eagles were down by roughly 5 percent. See Mint Statistics here.
