Michael Doran announces his candidacy for the 2007-2009 ANA Board of Governors.

Michael Doran has announced his candidacy for a seat on the American Numismatic Association?s board of governors.

Doran first became an ANA member in 1991 at the organization?s centennial convention in Chicago. He became a life member in 2000.

He serves as secretary for the Illinois Numismatic Association and has served on the governing board since 1995.

He says of his reasons for running, ?A board member removal, firings, secret closed-door meetings, and now, controversial changes to the bylaws have some within the membership concerned.

Doran says, the ANA ?must treat its members and clubs with utmost respect. And most importantly, the ANA must return to its number one purpose ? to promote the knowledge, study and science of the numismatic hobby.?
