A collection of deep mirror prooflike Morgan dollars will appear in the Heritage Auction Galleries? 2008 Baltimore American Numismatic Association Signature® Auction.

The DMPL Morgans, which are presently hot in the marketplace, will appear Aug. 1 in the Fifth session of the official convention auction, which runs from July 30 until Aug. 3.

Among the highlights is the finest Professional Coin Grading Service-certified 1881-CC graded MS-67 DMPL.

The cataloger describes the piece as exhibiting ?much flashy luster over radiant silver-white surfaces with full cartwheels.? It notes that the strike is full and even.

An 1882-CC is called the ?single finest certified 1882-CC Morgan dollar MS-67 Deep Mirror Prooflike.?

An 1885-CC is tied for the finest known DMPL at PCGS MS-67.

The 1889-CC is graded PCGS MS-64 DMPL. The catalog description notes that there is a population of 16 pieces in -64, but none finer.

An NGC MS-67 1885 DMPL is called a fantastically mirrored superb gem? and none is numerically finer.

An 1894 in NGC MS-64 DMPL is called one of two finest known.

There are almost 300 lots of Morgan dollars with many of them DMPL, but never fear, key dates in circulated grades are represented. There are seven 1893-S pieces ranging from VG-10 to XF-40.

The also auction includes the Oscar Alexander Collection of 1908 Gold, the Bayside New York Collection of Half Dollars, 1794-1807, the Phil Kaufman Collection of Early Proof Sets, Part Four, The Ed Price Collection of Early Dime and Quarter Eagle Varieties and the Stephen Stokely Collection, Part Five, $20 Saint-Gaudens Registry Collection.
