Show dates have changed again for the International Paper Money Show in Memphis in 2007. This second change has taken it out of June completely, moving it yet further from its traditional Father?s Day weekend dates. The new 2007 dates are July 6-8.
Mike Crabb, who runs the show for the Memphis Coin Club, said a problem with the previously scheduled June show dates arose when the associated hotel decided to allocate rooms and ballroom space for a different event. He said he first looked to moving the show just one week later, but some of the key show volunteers were unable to participate on that date, which led to the July timing.
Crabb said he sent a mailing about the rescheduling to dealers in December, but after about two weeks, he?d not had much response. He speculated that the mail was moving slowly, though it?s also true that some dealers put business on hold during the holiday period.
The 2007 IPMS is to take place at the Cook Convention Center, 255 N. Main St. Admission is free. For more information, contact Mike Crabb, P.O. Box 17871, Memphis, TN 38187-0871; telephone (901) 757-2515.
Crabb also said the schedules for 2008 and 2009 are up in the air. In the future the show might move to earlier or later dates.
