D.C. Quarters Out Today
I believe the District of Columbiaquarters are set to hit circulation today. This is the first in the series of six Territories and Possesionquarter issues, including Puerto Rico, Guam, American Samoa, U.S. Virgin Islands and Northern Mariana Islands. The Washington D.C. quarter features Duke Ellingtonof Take the A Trainfame.
With the recent inauguration of President Barack Obama, I would think this new U.S. Mintproduct for Washington D.C., honoring an African American icon of popular culture might be very much in demand. The design sports Ellington beside his piano, where all of us Jazz folks love to see and hear him.
