The Long Beach and Santa Clara, Calif., coin shows have been purchased for $2.4 million by Collectors Universe, parent firm of the Professional Coin Grading Service.

Selling Expos Unlimted, LLC, which owns the shows, was Ronald J. Gillio, who along with his team have been retained for at least five years to continue to run them.

The purchase price can be adjusted upwards by up to $750,000 in contingent payments that will be based on the future performance of the shows, Collectors Universe said.

There are three shows each year in Long Beach and two in Santa Clara.

?The Long Beach Expo is one of the most important shows in the coin business, and this acquisition secures this venue for the future,? said David Hall, President of Collectors Universe.

?I?m excited for Expos to become a Collectors Universe company,? said Gillio.
