The national motto “In God We Trust” has been made safe on U.S. coinage and paper money by yet another court decision.

This time it was a U.S. Supreme Court decision March 7 not to hear an appeal of a decision by the Ninth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, which ruled in favor of using the motto on paper money in a case alleging that it was an unconstitutional government endorsement of religion.

The case was brought by Michael Newdow, who was a party to an earlier case that had challenged “under God” in the Pledge of Allegiance in 2002.
