Collectors will have the opportunity to get multiple free appraisals on their coins and other collectibles from more than 30 West Coast dealers all in one location. The 50-year-old non-profit Diablo Numismatic Society will host its annual Contra Costa Coin Show Oct. 9-10 at the Holiday Inn located at 1050 Burnett Ave., Concord. The show opens at 10 a.m. both days.

In addition to the appraisals, attendees will be able to buy, sell and trade coins, medals, tokens, casino chips and paper money as well as estate jewelry and watches. There will be coin supplies available along with a brand new service: digital coin photography.

There will also be prizes and free coin drawings. Boy Scout Troop #465 will host a youth exhibit that includes free coins for children.

Diablo’s show proceeds are used to benefit hobby educational programs. For the third consecutive year, the show will also support the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano counties. A portion of show admission fees will be donated directly to the food bank. Admission is $3.

The Concord Holiday Inn has a special rate of $79 for those requiring overnight accommodations. Call (888) 263-8555 and ask for the coin show rate.
