The Myrtle Beach, S.C., Coin Club is holding a contest to determine who can best predict the price of spot silver at year’s end.

Members can submit their prediction (to the cent) of what the price of an ounce of silver will be on Dec. 31.

Entries must be submitted by Oct. 6. Members can submit their entries at the meeting held on that day.

The winner will receive a silver Eagle as a prize. Only club members are eligible.

The club is again partnering with David Quante, owner of Myrtle Beach Coin Exchange, to put on the Myrtle Beach Coin Show.

The show is set for Oct. 24-25 at the Holiday Inn West, located at 101 Hard Rock Park Blvd. in Myrtle Beach.

Attending the show will be dealers in coins, paper money, tokens, medals, stamps and other collectibles. Visitors will have the opportunity to examine, buy and sell material. There will also be a Young Numismatist table, door prizes, free appraisals and a raffle.

As was done after the club’s May show, half of the raffle proceeds will be donated to the Horry County Meals on Wheels program. In May the club donated $1,005 to the charity.

Show hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is free.

For more on the show, contact Quante at his coin shop at (843) 293-9000 or (703) 819-5616, or by e-mail at davidquante@hotmail.com.
