The Bridge City Coin and Stamp Club of Mobridge, S.D., donated three new numismatic catalogs to the A.H. Brown Public Library as a way of wrapping up its 2010 National Coin Week activities.
The club donated Krause Publications’ Standard Catalog of World Coins 2001-Date, Standard Catalog of World Paper Money 1961-Present and Unusual World Coins.
The club, founded in 1958, says it is expanding its Coin Week participation each year. This year’s activities started with spreading the word about the American Numismatic Association’s online Coin Week contests.
It also held its own local contest. Copies of a riddle were made available at each of the member-placed exhibits throughout the community. The riddle was read in its entirety on two different radio programs. The first place award was a Widow’s Mite coin. All correct answers received a prize.
Coin exhibits were displayed at the library, the Chamber of Commerce office, Dacotah Bank, Great Western Bank and Wells Fargo Bank. Dacotah Bank had “National Coin Week” and “Come in to see the exhibit” on its outdoor marquee sign.
All contest prizes were donated by club members.
