Four additional portrait designs for the upcoming Presidential Dollar series were reviewed by the Commission of Fine Arts Oct. 19.
The CFA selected one preferred portrait for each of the four Presidents scheduled to be honored in 2008: James Monroe, John Quincy Adams, Andrew Jackson and Martin Van Buren.
The four designs were chosen from a group of more than 40 portrait options.
Sue Kohler of the CFA said that there was no argument among committee members over the preferred selections.
She also said committee members expressed approval for the overall design template the Presidential Dollars are following, a template the committee had approved previously.
The CFA picked its preferences for the first four Presidential Dollars at a March 16 meeting. The first one, honoring George Washington, is scheduled to be introduced early in 2007, with three more to follow in the calendar year.
