It will cost more to attend future Central States Numismatic Society conventions.

Starting in 2018, a convention registration fee will be charged. For one day, the price will be $5. For admission for all days of the show, the price will be $10.

The board of governors made the decision at a meeting on Wednesday night.

Kevin Foley said charging such a fee is standard practice.

For Central States, it was done to "conform to typical practices in the show and convention world that we are a part of."

Up to now, coin dealers have carried the entire burden of putting on Central States conventions through their bourse fees.

Foley called the fee "extremely nominal compared to other shows and conventions."

The 2017 event will be the last one open to the public free of charge.
