CCAC sends views to Treasury
The Citizens Coinage Advisory Committee had a busy day Oct. 16 in reviewing designs for multiple coin and medallic issues.
Preferences expressed at the meeting were transmitted to the Treasury secretary, who makes the final decision.
The 2021 and 2022 Native American dollar designs will have military themes (shown above). The first design reads, “Native Americans – Distinguished Military Service Since 1775.” On the second is a portrait of Ely Parker, a member of the Seneca tribe who was a lieutenant colonel in the Union Army. He wrote the final draft of Confederate surrender terms at Appomattox.
Service medal designs were also chosen for the Air Force (above) and the Coast Guard (below).
Platinum coin designs were examined, but no official recommendations were made for the 2021-2025 program.
