Buyers snap up Hot Springs coins
Denied 1,000 coin bags, buyers zeroed in on the 100-coin bags for the new Hot Springs, Ark., America the Beautiful quarter.
The U.S. Mint has discontinued the 1,000-coin bag option for quarter sales.
In the initial sales period April 19-April 25, buyers scooped up 5,268 of the 100-coin Philadelphia Mint uncirculated bags. They purchased 4,915 of the Denver Mint bags.
These figures compare to 7,778 and 7,400, respectively, for the Northern Mariana quarters, which had been on sale for approximately five months.
Sales of two-roll sets leaped out of the gate even faster with 25,983 sold as compared to the 33,788 last Northern Mariana’s number.
Five different America the Beautiful quarters will be issued in 2010.
